Service Rendered
The Ministry of Justice offers a range of services to the public and to other government institutions in support to its mission and mandates. These services are Legal Services, Services to provide Access to Justice as well as Research and Documentation Services. The respective departments of the Ministry provide those services.
Legal Services
Drafts
Prepare legal drafts and/or review drafts presented by relevant government institutions
Advises
Provide legal opinion/advise to government institutions
Harmony
Oversee the harmonization of laws
National Laws
Compile and systematically consolidate national laws
Access to Justice
Justice in Eritrea is not a mere notion, it is rather a principle enshrined in its core social values. The Ministry of Justice believes, all justice standards are most useful when placed in the context of their own socio-economic, historical, cultural realities and beliefs.
The strategy of the Ministry of Justice outlines certain measures that need to be taken which are primarily aimed at enhancing affordability, availability and quality of public legal services in Eritrea. The strategy defines the measures which need to be taken. Every measure seeks to achieve a plainly defined objective, while at the same time it identifies relevant implementing institution. The measures are divided in accordance with the purpose they seek to serve. These include:
- Oversee out-of-court dispute settlement systems
- Engage in activities of raising the legal awareness of the public
- Prepare standard legal forms and monitor their effective application
Research and Documentation

Initiate researches towards expedient and quality legal services;

Collect and systematically document relevant statistical information and research works;

Identify areas of improvement for the adequate functioning of the administration of justice;
4
Propose and design training programs.
